Classic car interior restoration
Full interior — seats, panels, headliner, dashboard, console. Faithful to the original or custom to your vision.

What Annie remakes in a classic car interior
Annie remakes the full interior, piece by piece, all of it new. Pattern, cutting, sewing, assembly. No local patch-ups. Annie works on any classic car model, faithful to the original or custom to your vision.
The seats first: driver, passenger and rear bench. Annie builds them fully new: auto leather, vinyl or fabric cover, plus a high-density foam insert, sewn and assembled together to the seat's pattern. Not just a foam refill on an old cover. For more on the leather work, see custom leather seats.
The door panels are recovered from new, in vinyl or auto fabric, with piping or topstitching to the original pattern when the project calls for it. The headliner is remade from new: thin foam bonded to the backing, auto fabric stretched and set without wrinkles. The center console and armrests are recovered from new, in vinyl or leather depending on the project. The dashboard gets a new capping, in vinyl or leather, faithful to the original or custom. The full interior trim follows: trim strips, side trim panels, rear headliner panel, door armrests, fitted by hand. For a model-specific project with the original pattern, see Mustang trim.
Annie does NOT do local patch-ups or foam refills on an old cover. No body work, paint, mechanical work or dent repair either. The interior is her lane, all new, from the seat to the trim.
Which leaves the materials: what makes a classic car interior hold up, season after season.
Leather, vinyl, fabric, foam, thread: what makes an interior last
A classic car interior remade from new lasts when the material is auto-grade and chosen project by project. The cover, the foam and the thread work together. None of the three forgives guesswork.
For the cover, three options depending on the look you want. Auto leather, full-grain, aniline or pigmented, tanned for automotive use: it takes the UV that comes through the glass and the thermal swings inside the cabin. Auto vinyl, different from marine vinyl, softer, grain finish, interior use only: it's the economical workhorse for panels, headliner, console and dashboard, and also for seats when the project targets an original vinyl look (typical on entry-level muscle cars from the '60s-'70s). Auto fabric, jacquard, wool cloth or OEM-style cloth, for restorations faithful to the original on '60s-'70s muscle cars or European imports from the '60s-'90s that shipped from the factory in fabric. Annie works with a network of Quebec suppliers and chooses the material by project: the brand follows the need, not the other way around.
Under the cover, high-density foam holds the seat's shape season after season under the driver's weight, without collapsing. A top layer of memory foam is possible depending on the project, especially on the most-used seats. The insert is cut to measure to the pattern of the piece, never a standard block trimmed down by guesswork.
For thread and finishing, UV-stable polyester or bonded nylon, chosen for strength and cabin use. Double-stitched seams on cushion edges, topstitching and piping to the original pattern or custom to the project, stainless staples to set the fabric on the frame.
Leather, foam, thread, stainless staples: that's what makes an interior last. Which leaves how it goes when you call the atelier for yours.
From quote to delivery: how it works
Five steps, in the same order every time: first contact, assessment and pattern, quote, build, installation or delivery.
- First contact. by phone or email. Annie listens, then asks two or three targeted questions: the car's model and year, scope (seats only, full set of seats and panels, or a full interior including headliner and dash), material (leather, vinyl, fabric), faithful to the original or custom.
- Assessment and pattern. in one of three ways. Either a visit to the atelier by appointment, north of Montreal, when the car can get there, with the pattern taken from the parts dropped off. Or an assessment at the client's location within the service area when the car can't travel. Or a pattern built from original parts shipped separately to the atelier (a common case in subcontract work with a restoration shop: seats, panels and headliner sent as a batch).
- Quote. written, priced per project, sent by email: material, thread, staples and fixings, build, delivery or installation. No catalogue pricing. Each project is quoted on its own terms.
- Build. at the atelier. Pattern, cutting the leather or fabric, sizing the foam, sewing, assembly, quality control: all pass through the same hands, in the same Rive-Nord atelier, from quote to delivery. To learn more about Annie's path, see Annie's story.
- Installation or delivery. Fitted to the car when it's at the atelier, or the finished parts (seats assembled, panels recovered, headliner ready to fit) delivered to the partner restoration shop or to the client. First-season follow-up: Annie stays reachable to adjust a staple point or recommend a care product specific to auto leather.
That's how it goes. Which leaves who calls the atelier, and from where.
Who Annie works for: area and clients
Annie remakes interiors for private collectors and works as a subcontractor for restoration shops and specialty garages. Private clients and B2B, both profiles have a place at the atelier, on the same cutting table.
The service area covers Rive-Nord, north of Montreal, where the atelier is based, plus Laval, Saint-Laurent, the Laurentides and Lanaudière. For a project outside the area, up to about a 2.5-hour drive, case by case. On the private side, it's mostly muscle car collectors (Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, Charger, Challenger, Chevelle), collector cars (Thunderbird, Impala, Plymouth Valiant, Plymouth Duster), European imports from the '60s-'90s, or VW Beetles. Any type of classic car comes through the atelier, with no specialization by model. Annie remakes the interior to the car's pattern, whatever's under the hood.
Annie remade her own seats before anyone else's. Her '40s American sedan, her '60s Volkswagen Beetle, her Plymouth Valiant that she still owns, her '70s Plymouth Duster: the seat was hers first.
On the B2B side, Annie regularly works as a subcontractor for restoration shops and specialty garages. Sets of seats, panels, headliner and trim remade together for a car mid-restoration, or a one-off piece when the in-house schedule overflows: you keep the client, Annie does the work. Custom seats and canvas for boats on the marine side, leather interiors and trim on the classic auto side: the same artisan, the same atelier, the same rigour with the pattern. For marine work, see custom boat canvas.
Which leaves the questions asked most often at the atelier before confirming a quote.
Common questions
- How long does it take to remake the full interior of a classic car?
- The timeline depends on the scope (seats only vs. full set vs. full interior including headliner and dash), the material to order from suppliers, and the season (winter is the classic auto peak in Quebec). Annie holds to the timeline she quotes.
- Can Annie repair a torn seat, or does she remake it new?
- Annie builds the complete seat, new cover and foam insert together, cut to measure to the pattern. No local patch-ups, no foam refill on an old cover. If you have an old seat, it can serve as a template for the pattern. What leaves the atelier is new: cover and insert assembled together.
- Leather, vinyl or fabric: which should I choose for my interior?
- Auto leather when you want a leather interior, custom or an original leather look on a Mustang, Corvette, or premium muscle car. Auto vinyl when you want an economical workhorse for panels, headliner, console, or seats with an original vinyl look. Auto fabric when the project is a restoration faithful to the original on a '60s-'70s muscle car or a European import that shipped from the factory in fabric.
- How much does a classic car interior restoration cost?
- Annie quotes by project, with no catalogue pricing. Four factors set the amount: the scope (seats only, full set, full interior), the car's model, the material chosen (leather, vinyl, fabric), and the finish level (faithful to the original or custom).
- Does Annie work as a subcontractor for restoration shops?
- Yes, regularly. Sets of seats, panels, headliner and trim remade together for a car mid-restoration, or a one-off piece when the in-house schedule overflows. You keep the client, Annie does the work. To discuss a partnership, call Annie at 514-298-7735, French only.
