Classic auto
Leather seat refection
Rebuilt from the ground up, never repaired. Custom leather seat covers for classic auto: Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, and any collector car.

What Annie makes: custom leather seats for classic cars
Annie makes the leather cover and the foam insert new, stitched and mounted together. Never one without the other. A new cover alone doesn't hold up long over tired foam, and new foam under an old cover doesn't give you a rebuilt seat: what makes it durable is the assembly, sewn from the start.
Seats covered: driver, passenger, rear bench seat, front bench seat, bucket seats. Full set or a single seat, depending on the project. Annie works on any classic car model: faithful to the original or custom to your vision. No specialization by model, no fixed catalogue.
The trade sequence stays the same project to project: pattern hand-traced on the seat or on a template, cutting the leather and foam, sewing the cover with new thread, final assembly of cover, foam and thread. Four steps, done at the workshop north of Montreal, by appointment, with no delegation.
Annie doesn't patch up an existing cover. She doesn't replace the foam alone and keep an old cover. The work is complete and new.
This page stays focused on leather seats. For door panels, headliner, centre console, dashboard or interior trim, see the full classic car interior.
Leather, foam, thread: materials and craft
A rebuilt leather seat holds up on three things: the material, the cut, and the stitching. All three work together. None of them forgives a rough job.
On leather, several options depending on the project. Aniline, pigmented, full grain, corrected grain: each has its own grain, hand, and behaviour under UV and daily wear. The choice follows your vision and how the car is used, not a fixed catalogue. Custom colour. Matte, satin or glossy finish. Smooth or grained texture, depending on the look you want. Annie works with a network of Quebec suppliers and chooses the leather to fit the project. The brand follows the need, not the other way around.
Under the cover, high-density foam, always new. Never reused. Density is adjusted seat by seat: a bucket seat doesn't need the same support as a rear bench seat, and the top layer is calibrated for driver posture.
On thread, polyester or bonded nylon depending on colour, UV exposure, and stitch tension. A driver's seat takes less UV than a headliner, but more daily wear. The thread is chosen for that.
Piping, topstitching, double-stitching on the cushion edges: to the original pattern for purists who want it faithful to the original, or custom to your vision for a personalized look.
From quote to delivery
A classic car leather seat project runs through six named steps, in the same order every time.
- First contact. by phone at 514-298-7735 (French only) or by email. You describe the car, the scope (driver's seat alone, a pair of bucket seats, a full set: driver, passenger, bench seat) and your vision: faithful to the original or custom to your taste.
- Assessment visit. either at your place within the service area, or at the workshop north of Montreal, by appointment. Annie looks at the seat's current state, measures the structure, and identifies the original leather if the project aims for a rebuild faithful to the model.
- Detailed quote. by email: leather chosen, high-density foam, thread, piping, topstitching, estimated timeline. No catalogue pricing. Each set is priced on its own, after the assessment.
- Workshop build. Pattern hand-traced directly on the seat or on a template, cutting the leather and foam, sewing the cover with new thread, assembling cover, foam and thread. Done by hand, with no delegation.
- Installation or delivery. of the assembled set. Depending on the project, Annie installs the seats herself on site, or delivers the finished set to your partner restoration shop for final installation.
- After installation. If the seat structure has shifted over time and an adjustment is needed after installation, Annie takes the piece back.
Complete refection: new leather, new foam, new thread
A complete refection with Annie means an entirely new piece. Not a touch-up. The seat that leaves the workshop is sewn from the start, assembled together, finished to the pattern: a leather cover rebuilt new, new high-density foam underneath, new thread holding it all together. Complete refection: new leather, new foam, new thread. No patchwork.
In practice, that means Annie doesn't patch up an existing cover. She doesn't replace the foam alone and keep an old cover. She doesn't touch up stitching done elsewhere. No half-measures, no seat where one part is new and the other keeps the old leather. If you arrive with a driver's seat already rebuilt elsewhere and just want the passenger done, Annie rebuilds the passenger seat complete, new.
The reason is simple. A rebuilt seat's durability comes from the cover-foam-thread assembly, sewn and mounted together from the start. Mixing new parts with old leather degrades the result: uneven tension, mismatched aging, stitching that works against itself. That's why Annie never mixes.
Who Annie works with
Annie works with two types of clients on auto leather seats.
On the individual side, these are owners of muscle cars and collector cars: American cars from the 60s and 70s, European imports from the 60s through the 90s, projects pulled out of storage after twenty or thirty years' wait. No specialization by model: Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, Charger, Plymouth Valiant, Beetle, the work adapts to your vehicle. For a model-specific custom project with the original pattern, see Mustang trim.
On the B2B side, Annie subcontracts for restoration shops and specialized garages. One call, one quote, the workshop handles the cover, foam and thread on the full set.
The service area covers north of Montreal, Laval, Saint-Laurent, the Laurentians and Lanaudière. Up to 2.5 hours' drive, as an exception, for a project that justifies it.
Annie rebuilt the seat in her own Plymouth Valiant before anyone else's. That's how she learned auto leather stitching.
The same workshop also sews custom boat canvas for owners on the Saint Lawrence and the Laurentian lakes.
Common questions
- How long does a full set of classic car leather seats take?
- Timeline depends on the scope (cover alone, or cover and foam insert, or cover, foam and new thread complete), the availability of the chosen leather from the Quebec supplier, and the complexity of the pattern. Annie gives you a clear window in the quote.
- Does Annie repair a torn leather seat, or rebuild it?
- Annie rebuilds, full stop. New leather cover, new foam insert, new thread, stitched and mounted together. No half-measures, no cover kept in part, no foam added under an old cover. If the piece is damaged, Annie makes it complete, custom, to the pattern of your seat.
- Which leather should I choose for my classic car seat?
- Several options depending on the project: aniline, pigmented, full grain, or corrected grain. Annie works with a network of Quebec suppliers and chooses the leather to fit the project. The brand follows the need, not the other way around.
- What does a set of rebuilt leather seats cost?
- No catalogue pricing: each set is quoted after assessment. The factors that matter: type of leather, scope (single seat or full set with bench seat), complexity of the pattern, piping and topstitching to the original pattern or custom.
- Does Annie subcontract for restoration shops on leather seats?
- Yes. Full-set subcontracting accepted for shops and specialized garages north of Montreal, Laval, the Laurentians and Lanaudière. One call, one quote, we handle the leather cover, foam insert and new thread, delivered as an assembled set for final installation at your partner shop. 514-298-7735, French only.
