Mustang trim: what Annie builds for your interior

Annie rebuilds the complete interior trim of your classic Mustang from scratch. Front and rear leather seats, door panels, headliner, centre console, armrests, trimmed trunk, interior trim pieces: every component is made to the pattern of your car, in the material you choose, sewn and mounted by hand.

The scope by component. Seats: '65-'68 bucket seats or the wider '69-'73 buckets, fixed or folding rear bench. Door panels: original-style door cards or custom, vinyl or leather. Headliner: original perforated vinyl or custom fabric, mounted on pre-formed bows. Console and armrests: same finish as the seat set. Trimmed trunk on request.

Annie works on any classic car model: Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, Charger, Plymouth, VW Beetle, and many more. Faithful to the original or custom to your vision. The work adapts to the car in front of her, not the other way around.

Mustang models covered: and any other classic car

Annie works on every first-generation Mustang, from the first model year in 1965 through the 1973 fastback.

The generations, by period. 1965-1966: the first year, pony interior and deluxe pony in original vinyl or custom leather. 1967-1968: a wider restyle, the first Shelby GT350 and GT500. 1969-1970: Boss 302, Boss 429, Mach 1, the first muscle Mustang. 1971-1973: the final first-gen fastback, Mach 1 and Boss 351, higher seats and a longer console.

Mustang II, 1974-1978, is assessed at the visit. Fox-body, SN-95, and later generations are outside Annie's lane: her workshop is centred on classic cars.

Beyond the Mustang, Annie works on Corvette, Camaro, Charger, Challenger, Chevelle, Firebird, GTO, Thunderbird, Impala, Plymouth Valiant, Plymouth Duster, VW Beetle, or any other classic car model. Annie doesn't position herself as a specialist in one model: every project follows the same approach, faithful to the original or custom to your vision.

Leather, vinyl, foam, thread: original or custom Mustang materials

On a classic Mustang, Annie works with either the original material (vinyl for the standard '65-'66, leather for the deluxe pony), or with custom leather for a personalized look. Both scopes are priced in the quote.

On the leather side, several options: aniline, pigmented, full-grain, or corrected-grain. Each has its own grain, hand, and behaviour under UV and everyday wear. Original Ford '65-'73 colours reproduced to match (Aqua, Palomino, Parchment, Saddle, Black, White), or a custom colour. Smooth or grained texture, matte, satin, or glossy finish.

For '65-'66 Mustangs with the original standard interior, the historically correct material is Ford vinyl. Annie can reproduce it in matte, satin, or perforated finish, or pivot to leather for an upgrade toward a deluxe pony interior look. Vinyl remains acceptable for concours purists; custom leather is preferred for regular use.

Under the cover, high-density foam, always new. The density is adjusted: a '65-'66 Mustang bucket seat doesn't need the same support as a '69-'70 rear bench. On the thread side, polyester or bonded nylon depending on colour, UV exposure, and stitch tension. Piping, topstitching, double-stitched seams on the cushion edges: to the original pattern for purists, or custom to your vision.

Annie works with a network of Quebec suppliers and chooses the leather to match the project: the brand follows the need, not the other way around.

From quote to delivery

A Mustang trim project runs through six named steps, in the same order every time.

  1. First contact. by phone at 514-298-7735 (French only) or by email. You describe the Mustang (generation, standard or deluxe version), the scope (seats only or the full interior), and the vision: faithful to the original with a period-correct pony interior, or custom to your taste.
  2. Assessment visit. either at your place within the service area, or at the workshop by appointment, north of Montreal. Annie looks at the current state of the trim, measures the Mustang's structure, and identifies the original material if the project aims for a faithful restyle.
  3. Detailed quote. by email: leather or vinyl chosen, foam, thread, piping, topstitching, exact scope, estimated timeline. There's no catalogue price. Every trim job is priced on its own basis.
  4. Workshop fabrication. Pattern drawn by hand directly on the piece or from a template, cutting the leather and foam, sewing the cover with new thread, assembling cover, foam, and thread together. No delegation.
  5. Installation or delivery. of the assembled set. Depending on the project, Annie installs the pieces herself on-site, or delivers the finished set to your partner shop for final installation.
  6. Post-installation follow-up. If the structure or the tension has shifted over time and an adjustment is needed after installation, Annie takes the piece back to fix it.

Leather seats, full trim: the scope of a Mustang project

A Mustang project with Annie can range from a single seat to the full interior trim. The scope is decided in the quote, based on your budget and the current state of the trim.

If you just want the leather seats rebuilt from scratch, Annie makes the leather cover, the foam insert, and the new thread, sewn and assembled together. For a deep dive on classic car leather seats, see our custom leather seats.

If you want the full interior (seats, panels, headliner, console, armrests, trimmed trunk, trim pieces), Annie covers every component, in the same leather and the same finish for a cohesive set. For the classic car interior in general, see the full classic car interior.

Between the two, a partial scope is possible: seats plus panels, or seats plus headliner, depending on your budget and the current state of the trim. Annie assesses it at the visit and proposes the scope that makes sense for your Mustang.

Who Annie works with

Annie works with two types of clients on Mustang projects.

On the individual side, these are classic Mustang owners restoring their car year-round: projects pulled out of storage after decades, or regularly driven Mustangs whose trim needs rebuilding after several seasons. A '65 first-year Mustang, a '71 Mach 1, a '69 Boss 302, a '73 fastback: whatever the generation, the work adapts to your car.

On the B2B side, Annie subcontracts for Mustang-specialized restoration shops and muscle car garages. One call, one quote, and the workshop handles the leather cover, the foam insert, the panels, and the headliner on the complete set.

The service area covers Rive-Nord, Laval, Saint-Laurent, the Laurentides, and Lanaudière. Up to 2.5 hours' drive, exceptionally, for a project that justifies it.

Annie is a collector herself. Her own collection spans the 1940s through the 1970s: Plymouth, VW Beetle, American sedans. Mustang or otherwise, every client project follows the same approach: faithful to the original or custom to your vision.

The same workshop also sews custom boat canvas for owners on the St. Lawrence and the Laurentides lakes.

Common questions

Which Mustang generations does Annie cover?
Every first-generation Mustang, from 1965 to 1973, including the Mach 1, Boss 302, Boss 351, Boss 429, Shelby GT350, and GT500. The Mustang II, 1974-1978, is assessed at the visit. And beyond the Mustang, any classic car model: Corvette, Camaro, Charger, Plymouth, VW Beetle, and many more. Annie doesn't position herself as a specialist in one model.
Can Annie rebuild my Mustang interior faithful to the original, or custom?
Both. Faithful to the original: reproducing the period-correct pony interior, deluxe pony, or standard interior, in vinyl or leather depending on the scope. Custom: colour, finish, grain, piping, and topstitching chosen to your vision. Annie assesses it at the visit and offers both options in the quote.
Does Annie do just the seats, or the full interior?
Both scopes are possible. Seats only: bucket seats, bench seat, full set. For a deep dive on leather seats, see our custom leather seats. Full trim: seats, panels, headliner, console, armrests, trimmed trunk. For the classic car interior in general, see the full classic car interior. A partial scope is possible too.
What does a Mustang trim rebuild cost?
There's no catalogue price: every trim job is quoted after an assessment. The factors that matter: Mustang generation, scope (seats only or full interior), material choice (aniline leather, pigmented leather, original vinyl), pattern complexity, piping and topstitching to the original pattern or custom.
Does Annie subcontract for Mustang restoration shops?
Yes. Full-trim subcontract work is accepted for restoration shops and muscle car garages in Rive-Nord, Laval, the Laurentides, and Lanaudière. One call, one quote, and Annie handles the leather cover, the foam insert, the panels, and the headliner, delivered as an assembled set for final installation at your partner shop. 514-298-7735, French only.
